We adore Roger Soubie's design that features on the 1940s first-year-of-release French Grande Style B film poster for classic film noir Kiss of Death (Le Carrefour de la Mort). Unsurprisingly one of Soubie's most celebrated designs. A very rare poster in wonderful condition.
Roger Soubie (1898-1984) is renowned for both his early French travel posters and the outstanding images he created for film posters. After beginning his artistic career with travel and automobile publicity posters and designing magazine covers, he became the favourite French movie poster artist for American Majors and created more than 2000 film posters between the 1930s and 1960s. Some of his film poster highlights include his design for Stanley Kubrick's Lolita, Sunset Boulevard, The War of the Worlds, Kiss of Death and Forbidden Planet.
